I cut the world apart to glue my body together is a series of framed word collages. The words were carefully and methodically cut from various books (including Cunt by Inga Muscio and War by Sebastian Junger) are then hodgepodged together. Looking at all of the words jumbled up with each other, I then redress them. The resulting phases—stand alone or call and response—are transgressive and cutting. The tone of the phrases are then juxtaposed with the quiet, traditional aesthetic of the frames. The work is confronting with small bursts of humor.
